Return on Investment

Typically a return of between 7% and 14% can be expected on your investment year-on-year with a PV system, which easily outstrips the return that you would expect keeping your money in the Bank.  To illustrate this, below is a comparison chart showing the return that you could expect on a £15,000 investment:

PV Return on Investment Diagram

Based on a 3.7kw system installed costing £15,000. Taking into account annual CPI (including inflation of energy bills) 1.5% for duration of investment, annual drop in panel efficiency, current electricity cost of 11.18p and user consuming 50% of energy generated.

* Net income and interest after 20% basic rate tax. Assumes interest accrued is left in account. Solar PV System Income is tax free.

How will it affect the value of my property?

The addition of PV panels will obviously enhance the appeal of your property and make it more saleable, especially for those customers that will be treating the system as an asset on their balance sheets.

The provision of free daytime electricity and a property with an income will obviously prove an attraction for most buyers too, especially in the case of premises with a large electricity demand.
